Duo valve replacement (2208300184)

Here's what I learned:

1. To remove the wiper arms, a small gear puller works. Mine were tight on and for 4.99 at O'Reilly's I got a puller that did a great job.

2. To remove the plastic water cover – do NOT pull on the cover to bring out the plastic rivets. I broke a tab on the Left side. Simply use flat tool (I used a body panel tool) to pull up on the flange, not the screw, and they come out pretty easily.

3. After you get the wiper assembly off, hold the knurled nut in place with a piece of tape – it spins freely and is used to align your wiper system.

4. The actual duo valve is a PITA to get to.

5. Use a small blade screwdriver to work you way around the rubber bushings that hold the Duovalve in place. You have to stuff them into the hole in the plate by working your way around the skirt.

6. I bought a hose clamp vise at NAPA that worked well to keep the clamp open so I could position it ideally.

7. I did not drain coolant or pinch the hose. I did the job when the car was cold and when I got the clamp off, I pulled the end of the hose up so that it was higher than the tank or radiator. I spilled very little.

8. I'm thinking that one of those flexible hose clamp pliers might have been good to have. The needle nose and channel locks did okay.

9. When replacing the duo valve, it slides in from the passenger side.

10. Moving the valve assembly around caused the hose clamp to scratch the finish on my firewall. I'm not sure how to avoid that.

11. After I started it up to check for leaks (before complete reassembly), the new motor squealed! I think it was running dry for a few seconds and didn't like that.
